Tenio Latev, came to be in Harmanli in southern Bulgaria, the location where the Latev Family was involved with Tabacco & Trading. Before WW II , Mr. Tenio Latev was heading the household business.
In 1947 Tenio Latev married the daughter from
the local priest coupled with two kids with her, who currently reside
in Bulgaria and Switzerland.
The Latev family served many clients throughout the planet incl. Phillip Morris and a few of the other big tobacco companies.
After
1949 the brand new communistic government in Bulgaria took power and
nationalized the tabacco business, forcing the Latev family out of it.
However Tenio Latev was lucky being promoted since the Gm of the newly
formed state owned company, called Bulgartabac. The reason behind it was
Tenio Latev's wast network of clients troughout the world and his
ability to find diplomatic solutions for complicated business problems.
He had not been an advocate with the Communist Party however the position he held managed to get mandatory for him to participate the Party. He served the Party at his best effort and was promoted many times throughout his professional political career. It is known today that he was one of the few government officials who never accepted big scale bribes. Coming from a wealthy and successful business family that has been expropriated, Tenio Latev would be a modest, soft hearted giant ( 195cm tall ).
The Latev Family was moved to Sofia in
1951, where Tenio Latev served because the General Manager and Director
for Bulgartobacco till 1985.
Throughout his career he was given
the privilege traveling the planet from The big apple to Moscow and lots
of other destinations. Just a few chosen people back in today of
communist Bulgaria could actually try this.
An Austrian author
recently published a book depending on material seen in archives in
Vienna/Austria, book name: Bulgartabak im Austriapack, which mentions
Tenio Latev and his awesome work for the us government throughout the
East-West trading relationships.
Tenio Latev would be a
good father and husband as well as an even better grandfather to his
three grandkids, one named after him and currently located in Hong Kong.
Tenio Latev unfortuantelly died 1989, a few months ahead of the
communist era came to a rapid end. He wasn't in a position to witness
the reestablishing of the free society as part of his beloved country.
His wife died 6 months after him, loved ones express it was of a broken
heart... She couldn't live without her husband.
